Declaration of Independence Reading

Did you miss the anniversary of the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia on July 8, 1776? Click here to watch the YouTube video of the reading by KMVT filmed on July 8.

The reading was hosted by the DAR on Wednesday, July 8 on the Veterans Community Plaza at the corner of Main & State, Los Altos.

Elected officials and community leaders, including Katie Zoglin from the League, read the declaration and grievances, part of a simultaneous reading of the Declaration from Guam to Washington, D.C. and at international locations.

Make Your Voice Heard

July is the time to inundate your Congresspersons with League's suggested actions. You’ve contacted them before about opposition to the SAVE Act, constitutional importance of the census count, and recognition of the ratified ERA.

It's always easy to get your congressperson's attention. Do it again.
