Get More Active with the League!

Want to get more involved with our local league? Can you think of a member to recommend being a leader? The Nominating Committee is looking for candidates for next year's Board and Nominating Committee.

We are especially looking for candidates for President, Vice President-Program, Voter Services Director, and Director At-Large.

If you're interested in learning more, please email the Nominating Committee at nominating@lwvlamv.org, or reach out to any nominating committee member: Kevin Ma, Pamela Baird, Karin Bricker, and Ellen Wheeler. We provide training and support.

Attend your Local No Kings Protest on March 28

LWVUS is joining No Kings as a national partner on Saturday, March 28. Local Leagues are welcome to lean in locally and participate in activities with partners on the ground in a non-partisan manner.

Our League is scheduled to meet up at Castro and El Camino Real.

For Leagues who decide to mobilize for No Kings, and if you’re joining LWVLAMV to mobilize for No Kings, please utilize our Protest Safety Guidance and Guidance for Leagues About Nonpartisanship and Partnerships.

From LWVC...

National Women’s History Month in March

In this pivotal moment of history, we are called to confront a range of overlapping global challenges: climate change, economic insecurity, healthcare disparities, and threats to democratic participation.

These issues are deeply intertwined – and women, particularly from marginalized communities, often experience their impacts most acutely.

Yet women have also led the charge toward lasting solutions. The National Women’s History Alliance offers

“Leading the Change: Women Shaping a Sustainable Future”.

From LWVUS...

Oppose the Save America Act Suite of Bills

We cannot stand idly by while our elected officials seek to suppress eligible Americans from voting.

The US House has again voted to advance legislation to the US Senate that would fundamentally change how eligible Americans register to vote. But this time, they’re adding measures for voters to “show their papers” at the polling location before they vote.

The House-passed SAVE America Act (SAVE Act 2.0) would make it harder for eligible voters to register AND cast a ballot. This would make it harder to vote and have no calculable benefit to the election process. Millions of Americans lack the identification that would be required to prove their citizenship or obtain a photo ID. Without those things, their voices would be silenced, their votes left uncast.

At the League, we’re asking you to stand with us to oppose these measures. We want our elections to be free, fair, and accessible for all eligible Americans, and we won’t let efforts to create barriers that block citizens from fully participating in our democracy, like the SAVE Act, move forward. Tell Congress to oppose this suite of bills.

Take Action

Mobilize Voters into Action

As a Leader for Democracy, you power this movement every day. Now, we need your vote for our 2026-yard sign!

With this year’s general midterm elections only months away, we need your help to make sure every voter is engaged, and every voice is heard on the issues at stake. Voting rights, local leadership, and crucial community decisions are only a few of the important issues that will be determined by the midterm elections.

Each yard sign will serve as a powerful reminder to busy or infrequent voters nationwide to get out and vote.

Pick your favorite design today and help us mobilize voters into action!
