LWVC Positions on ICE
Message on from Jenny Farrell, Executive Director, Lorrel Plimier and Kandea Mosley Gandhi, LWVC co-Presidents
I hope you are hanging in there with what has been a rough start to 2026. We wanted to take a moment to let you know where LWVC stands with regards to some of the recent activity by ICE and remind you of some tips and resources you can use to keep fighting the good fight.
First and foremost, the League of Women Voters of California (LWVC) strongly condemns the recent and escalating use of force by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and other federal authorities against protestors in Minnesota, California, Oregon, and across the country.
Make your voice heard. Join the League’s Unite & Rise campaign!
Call on Congress to investigate ICE’s use of force. Review the League of Women Voters’ 2025 statement condemning the use of force against peaceful protestors.
Watch for protection efforts in California. LWVC is actively reviewing legislation introduced in January that proposes multiple strategies to hold ICE accountable for its actions with our state.
