Leah Litman Speaks on Roe Commemoration

LWV Los Altos Mountain View Area is invited to hear from Leah Litman, a leader for women’s issues and well-known podcaster. She will be the keynote speaker at AAUW Silicon Valley's event, Step Out for Pro Choice, held annually on the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision.

Ms. Litman is the well-known co-host of  Strict Scrutiny, a podcast about the Supreme Court of the United States, alongside Melissa Murray and Kate A. Shaw. She is a professor of law at the University of Michigan Law School and writes on constitutional law, federal courts, and federal post-conviction review.

Be Counted as One of the 8.5 Million

8.5 is the estimated number of voters it would take to bring about change through nonviolent protest. This number is based on the following finding from the Carr-Ryan Center for Human Rights.

Unite & Rise 8.5 aims to build a movement of 8.5 million individuals to unite and rise up against the anti-democratic actions of this administration. Launched in May 2025 and running fast from January until the November 2026 midterm elections, this initiative is part of our Women Defend Democracy campaign. The League of Los Altos Mountain View Area is committed to join with other local organizations. Join LWV of California’s State Advocacy Team as a

Legislative Analyst

This team is the engine behind our legislative work. We need volunteers to keep it strong! As volunteer you will: 

• Review and analyze bills, then draft letters of support or opposition. 
• Follow legislation as it moves through the process, updating analyses as needed. 
• Work with experienced Position Directors for guidance and mentorship. 
• Contribute the research and writing that make the League’s advocacy credible and effective. 

We provide training, resources and mentoring so you will feel confident in your role.
