Upcoming Changes to Collecting League Dues

LWV is creating a new membership portal where all Leagues will manage membership and dues. You don’t need to do anything now, but we want to provide an overview of what these changes mean for you. This new system, managed by LWVUS, is scheduled to launch in February 2025 when you will receive an email to log-in to the new portal to update your information. You will not need to renew until your regular renewal date when you will receive an email reminder.

What is changing?

  • Dues will no longer be a fixed rate. Under the new sliding scale system, you will choose what you pay and a percentage will go to each League level: state (47%), national (33%) and LAMV will receive 20%. Recommended dues amount for all members across the country will be $75, but members can pay any amount (minimum: $20).
  • Donations will be split with state and national unless you specify that the donation goes to LWV LAMV only.
  • Payments to us (LWV LAMV) are tax deductible as we are a 501(c)3 charitable organization, i.e. 20% of your dues and 100% of donations to LAMV.
  • All memberships will be individual. No official Household, Student or Young memberships. We will still honor Lifetime memberships.
  • Yes, there is still the option to renew by check for members who don't use the internet, but we encourage members to renew online
  • You will also be given the option to sign up to auto-renew annually

In early January you will receive an email with more details about this transformation. We will host two virtual meetings to explain the changes and answer your questions. In the meantime, if you have any questions please contact Lisa McLain at membership@lwvlamv.org
