League News

From LWV Los Altos Mountain View…

Program Planning Thank You

On Saturday, February 10, 2024 the League's members joined for the annual program planning meeting. This year, we discussed priorities for the coming year. The membership supported a continuing focus on making democracy work (voter education and registration), housing/homelessness, and climate change. Please let me know if you are interested in volunteering some time in any of these areas.

The membership also supported the national League of Women Voters continued focus on making democracy work: voting rights, improving elections, money in politics, redistricting, and abolishing the electoral college.  For more information on the Campaign for Making Democracy Work, go to:  https://www.lwv.org/making-democracy-work.

Thank you to all who took part in decision-making,

Katie Zoglin, President LWVLAMV

Update on Legislation

The 2024 League of Women Voters legislative session got moving quickly to track and assess newly introduced legislation and send letters on bills already moving this session.

This year we have added AB 544 (Bryan) to our roster of co-sponsored bills. It would launch a pilot program to place a voting location in jails in three counties, thereby allowing any eligible incarcerated person to register and cast their votes at those jails. Check out our status report on bills for 2023-24 here.
