LWV Supports Measure A
The League of Women Voters of the Los Altos-Mountain View Area Board of Directors voted to support the Los Altos School District’s Measure A Parcel Tax.
The parcel tax maintains the current parcel tax plus an increase of $72 to cover cost of living increases. We support the parcel because:
- Teachers and other school staff struggle to live in or near the community they work in because of the high cost of housing here.
- The income from the parcel tax will allow the School District (LASD) to continue to hire skilled teachers.
- The continuation of the parcel tax will allow LASD to maintain its standing in the top 1% of all schools in California.
In addition, Seniors who are homeowners will continue to be eligible for an exemption. A citizens’ oversight committee and annual audits ensure that all funds are spent as promised. Without the parcel tax LASD will face a large financial shortfall.
We hope that you too will support Measure A on the November ballot.
