What’s JRLVRAA? And Why It Needs Support!

The House reintroduced HR14, the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act (JRLVRAA), which will fully restore and modernize the Voting Rights Act (VRA). HR 14 will ensure renewed oversight, accountability, and justice in our democracy so all voters can exercise their right to vote.

The Voting Rights Act (VRA) of 1965 was landmark civil rights legislation responding to barriers that prevented Black voters from exercising their right to vote. It remains necessary to prevent voter discrimination for all voters, no matter the language they speak, the color of their skin, or the zip code they live in. However, the Supreme Court decision in Shelby County v. Holder gutted the VRA of vital sections of the law.

At this critical moment in our nation’s history, we need the JRLVRAA to revive the sections lost! Tell your Representatives to support the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and live up to the full promise of American democracy.

Help Support Measure A

We need to pass Measure A. Los Altos School District (LASD) has placed Measure A on the ballot for the November 7, 2023, special election. Measure A renews an existing revenue source that generates almost $3 million annually for local elementary and junior high schools. It's crucial to protect this funding to avoid painful budget cuts and possible teacher layoffs. Measure A needs at least 67% of votes to pass, so convincing district parents is not enough. Polling has shown that this election will be very close. LWV can help!

Sign Up to Volunteer Here: https://bit.ly/KLASSvolunteer. Raise awareness among supporters and remind them to vote. Training videos, instructions, and canvassing materials will be provided.

Donate: https://www.keeplosaltosschoolsstrong.org/donateThe district cannot pay for campaign materials. Any contribution is greatly appreciated.

Endorse and Take a Lawn Sign! endorsement form / lawn sign request. Endorser names will be on our website and campaign mail. Lawn signs are beneficial on busy streets.
