MAKE A POSITIVE DIFFERENCE

JOIN OUR LOCAL LWV CLIMATE ACTION TEAM

The Climate Action Team (CAT) of LWV LA-MV is recruiting new members with a passion for promoting sustainability in our three cities. Join CAT and you will

  • Attend regular Zoom meetings on the first Wednesday of each month from 7 to 8 PM.
  • Gain and be able to share information you can trust and pass on to help counteract climate disinformation.
  • Advocate for positive change and help your town move boldly toward a sustainable future.

Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, and Mountain View all have ambitious plans for meeting the climate challenges in the current decade. But plans are just words on paper or pixels on screens until City Councils make the funding and staffing commitments to implement them. Each step requires Councils to take a vote, often faced by opposition often based on mis- and dis-information.

Long-time League member Bruce Karney leads the CAT and also the Mountain View sub-team. Join in and step up to lead the Los Altos and Los Altos Hills sub-teams. You can reach Bruce at bkarney@comcast.net or by phone at 650 964-3567.

HOW TO JOIN:

Separate Google Groups have been set up for climate actions focused on Mountain View, Los Altos and Los Altos Hills.  To join one or all of the groups, send a blank email to the appropriate address below:

After you join any of these city-specific groups you will be invited to join an area-wide CAT GoogleGroup. Our first meeting will be May 4th.  You won't be able to join that group until after you have joined one of the three listed above. You are not required to join the area-wide group - it is an option for those whose interests extend to all three communities.

Vice-President of Program

We are looking for a new board member to take the position of Vice-President of Program. This position is responsible for planning and executing our two large annual meetings, Program Planning in February and Annual Meeting in June. The candidate should enjoy planning and organizing. Current board members are on hand to mentor and answer questions.

The term begins on July 1, 2022, and lasts for at least one year. We hope that a new Vice-President of Program would choose to stay for an additional year to maximize what they have learned.

Our board meets the first Monday of the month at 7:00 pm.

If you have any questions, contact Sue Graham .
