Hosted by SCC LWV Civil Discourse Committee
Hone your civil discourse skills and add your ideas in this Participative Workshop Conversation around using the elements of Equity & Equality and whether they provide fair solutions to community issues.
Participant Discussion will include:
- What is Equity?
- What is Equality?
- Why are these elements important?
- How can they be achieved in the public sphere?
Which Discussion do you want to join?
1 - Affordable Housing - Nimby vs. Yimby – We need to build taller & low cost housing in my neighborhood – support or oppose? Where do you stand?
2 - Is it fair to have bail requirements – yes or no?
3 - Mental health is a major issue among our homeless population and do we need to enforce treatment – yes or no – and resulting consequences?
4 - Is it fair to mandate a universal basic income to all within low income ranges – being considered for CA?
