Climate Solutions
How you can hasten the pace of the transition to a sustainable future

One of the goals of our local league is to educate our members on the many ways they can eliminate greenhouse gas emissions in order to reduce their carbon footprint and move to a fossil free future. Another goal is to influence city councils to implement bold sustainability programs while keeping our recommendations consistent with state and national league positions. We advocate for the electrification of all new and old buildings and all modes of transportation.

We work toward these goals
through articles we write under "Climate Solutions" of The Voter and publish on our website,by speaking with elected officials, or by writing letters to city councils or environmental commissions.

Local Climate Groups and Making Electrification Easier

Carbon Free Mountain View led the successful effort in 2014-2017 to bring 100% carbon-free electricity to 12 cities in Santa Clara County by advocating for the creation of Silicon Valley Clean Energy. In 2019, we collaborated with Silicon Valley Clean Energy and Fossil Free Buildings Silicon Valley to have the city of Mountain View adopt a new REACH code in support of all-electric building for new residences.

GreenTown Los Altos works to protect and enhance the environment of Los Altos and Los Altos Hills through community engagement, education, and advocacy while contributing to and leveraging regional and global environmental efforts.

Silicon Valley Clean Energy ehub has resources and tools to help you take the guesswork out of going all-electric.

Collaborate Mountain View  works to make Mountain View the most sustainable community in the Bay Area.

HomeIntel (HEA) pulls your PG&E data, gives you insights into your energy use, and suggests ways you can reduce it. They can provide a personal energy coach to help you electrify your house.

BayRen offers small rebates on appliances and a range of energy efficiency projects. They also provide an advisor that can help you.

Appliances Assistant explores smart, clean electric appliances. See efficiency scores, customer reviews, and prices all in one place.
